Since the beginning of the week, due to active hostilities in the east of Ukraine, gas supply to Luhansk and Donetsk regions has been lost, and the number of shutdown Gas Distribution Stations (GDS) has increased by 75% to 93 GDS.
The reason for stopping 41 GDS in Donetsk and Luhansk regions was damage to the main gas pipeline resulting from russian shelling.
Employees of Gas TSO of Ukraine remain in the region to be able to resume the supply of gas as soon as they have access to the damaged pipeline sections and also to keep in working regime the only working GDS, which ensures the operation of a bakery in one of the cities of the Donetsk region.
The most significant number of stopped GDSs is in the Donetsk region – 55% of the total quantity stopped. The rest are in Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions.
Gas TSO of Ukraine is in constant contact with civil-military administrations and the armed forces for maximum prompt access to the damaged sections. In particular, this week, it was possible to localize a gas pipeline branch after the main gas pipeline was destroyed in the Kharkiv region and avoid limiting gas supply to consumers.
