GTSOU’s efforts are aimed at further increase of integration of the Ukrainian and the European gas markets

Increasing gas capacities for transportation from the European countries is one of priority projects of the company, said Andrii Prokofiev, Head of the Division of Cooperation with Clients of the GTSOU, during his speech at the Ukrainian Gas Open 2024, which took place on August 1, in Kyiv.

“We see an opportunity to increase gas capacity at the entry interconnection points from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and from Romania through Moldova. It is essential to not only to ensure these gas capacities technically, but also make them competitive from the economic point of view. Ukraine has a unique market offer – powerful gas storage capacities that strengthen Europe’s energy security. The implementation of this opportunity depends on the neighboring operators and their tariff policy,” noted Andrii Prokofiev.

He also underlined the fact that an increase in gas transportation rates along the Trans-Balkan route led to an almost tenfold decrease in volumes in 2024 compared to 2023.

“Therefore, we are working and negotiating with our partners, adjacent TSOs, in order to create commercially attractive transportation routes together,” the GTSOU representative concluded.
