The Gas TSO of Ukraine and Gaz-System S.A., the operator of the gas transmission system in the Republic of Poland, have reached an agreement to implement firm capacities for importing natural gas from Poland to Ukraine in a volume of about 5.15 million cubic meters per day.
The upgraded firm capacity will be available from January 1 to September 30, 2025. It will be offered for the first time in a monthly auction on December 16, 2024. Transmission customers will also have the opportunity to reserve designated capacity in quarterly, monthly, daily and within-day auctions in accordance with ENTSO-G calendar.
“Our collaboration with our Polish partner Gaz-System over the past several months has allowed for securing firm capacities for gas transportation from Poland to Ukraine. This will ensure additional security of the gas supply for Ukraine and increase potential for utilization of Ukrainian gas transportation and storage systems. We will continue our cooperation to ensure maximization of capacity offering in order to ensure reliable service to our customers,” emphasized Dmytro Lyppa, General Director of the GTSOU.
GTSOU is continuing to work on enhancing capacities in all directions. Over the past year, firm capacities have been introduced with all adjacent countries, thereby opening access to natural gas from multiple sources, ensuring additional security of gas supply for both Ukraine and the broader region.
