State of Ukrainian gas transmission system operation as of May 3, 2022: due to shelling, ten gas distribution stations in the Kharkiv region were shut down

Russian occupiers’ shelling caused new damage to the gas transportation infrastructure of the Kharkiv region. GTSOU dispatchers recorded a significant decrease in the system pressure, which occurred due to damage to the main gas pipeline due to hostilities. It led to the shutdown of 10 gas distribution stations (GDS), which transported gas to several settlements in the region.

GTSOU employees managed to get to the right place to localize the pipeline section with the support of the Ukrainian military and with the assistance of the Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleh Synegubov. In the “time window” between artillery shelling, accompanied by the military, the company’s specialists were able to localize the damaged section of the pipeline and optimize the gas supply scheme.

Due to the ongoing hostilities, GTSOU specialists cannot gain access to repair the damaged section of the gas pipeline. The company is looking for opportunities to provide a full gas supply to settlements and begin the necessary repairs at the slightest opportunity.

In total, 56 GDSs in Luhansk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions have been shut down due to hostilities.
