In the last seven months, more than 3.2 bcm of natural gas were delivered from the EU and Moldova to Ukraine

This is 4,5 times more than during the same period in 2022. Back then, the figure totalled at 716 mcm.

Between April and October 2023, the GTS Operator of Ukraine transported 3.2 bcm of natural gas from the EU and Moldova to Ukraine. Most of that volume belongs to foreign companies and has been delivered to Ukrainian UGFs for storage.

This season, Slovakia has been the primary source of natural gas deliveries, accounting for 1,373 bcm or 43% of the total volumes. 918.2 mcm (29%) came from Hungary, 382.5 mcm (12%) came from Poland, and 540.5 mcm (16%) came from Romania via Moldova.

The southern branch of Ukraine’s GTS (which is a part of the Trans-Balkan Corridor) has been actively used this year for commercial gas deliveries from Romania. This route was mostly used to transport gas in fulfillment of orders for gas storage in Ukraine placed by foreign traders.

“The European gas market is evolving, and so is the role of Ukraine’s GTS. We are ready to offer new solutions to our clients, one of which is particularly the Trans-Balkan Corridor. This route can unite the markets of Southern and Central Europe, connecting Greek LNG terminals, Ukrainian storage facilities and Central European consumers into one supply chain,” Dmytro Lyppa, General Director of the GTS Operator of Ukraine, noted.
